IPA 2023

I have exciting news! For the third year in a row I’ve been awarded an Honourable Mention in the International Photography Awards and I am not only tickled pink, but gobsmacked.

I entered a feminist picture and didn’t think for any second of the day that the IPA would have the courage to recognize it, as it is critical of gender identity ideology. Artists have been cancelled, creatives bullied and organisations physically attacked, for showing any support for the rights of women & girls in the “trans” debate. So for the IPA, one of the largest photography competitions in the world, to award an image with the word “TERF” stamped across it shows courage beyond measure. Good on them is all I can say 👏👏👏.

Sticks & Stones………will break my bones, but names will also hurt me.

The image, ‘Sticks & Stones’, is one of my most important to date (click on the picture to be taken to the IPA website where you will see my artist’s statement). Gender identity ideology is the biggest threat to the lives of women and girls in the west in my lifetime and I am passionate that my rights, and the rights women before me fought so hard for, will not be lost on my watch. However, with Humza Yousaf bringing in laws in Scotland which make it a “hate crime” to call men males and to stop them from accessing female only spaces, and when the NHS is removing any reference to women (we are now being called ‘people’ and even ‘vulva havers’) in their literature on pregnancy and menopause (although they retain the word ‘men’ in their literature on prostate cancer), and when a gynaecologist (who only treats female genital anatomy) is being sued for refusing to see a male patient, and when the Sex Discrimination Commissioner for Australia says that sex is not a biological concept and can be changed it feels like an uphill battle.

If you want to support the rights of actual women over men who pretend to be women, please thank the IPA for awarding my image – you can find them on Facebook, Insta and Twitter.
