I am still alive in case you were wondering, although it’s been over 3 months since my last blog post. I sold my house the week before Christmas and bought a new property which needs renovation and I’m currently living in filth and chaos at the mercy of Bob the Builder and his band of merry men. My photography has, therefore, had to take a back seat so far this year however the new property will eventually have a small but dedicated ‘studio’ space which I can’t wait to get finished. I’d long outgrown the 8ft x 10ft spare bedroom in my last home!

Despite the stress of moving I still managed in February to put a few images into this year’s Fine Art Photography Awards, though it went right up to the wire with my entries being submitted in a panic just hours before the deadline. I’d forgotten all about the competition if I’m honest, so was absolutely gobsmacked (and utterly delighted) to be informed this morning that I’ve been awarded for the 4th year running 😲.

My image ‘Lady of the Lake’ (which was accomplished in my bath tub!) has been nominated in the Fine Art Category and my image ‘Sticks & Stones’ (which involved stripping down to my undies in the middle of Carlisle city centre!) has been nominated in the portrait category. The awards are a much needed boost, as so far this year has been quite stressful with one thing and another (including a fall where I fractured my cheekbone, sprained my wrist, badly bruised my ribs and may have damaged the retina in my eye) and I am so grateful that FAPA have once again recognized my work.

For personal reasons my photography has been largely on the back burner since the start of the pandemic in 2020 and I am so longing to get back to producing regular creative images and following my passion for wildlife photography. Fingers crossed this is the year and nothing else gets in the way! 🤞
