“What is for you won’t pass by you.” Scottish saying.
My Mum made the decision to die and withdrew medication. So a couple of weeks before she passed I was already grieving and sought a therapist to help me with what I knew was going to be an incredibly difficult time in my life.
It was the spring of 2022 and we were still dealing with the Covid pandemic. I looked at various therapists and found one I thought looked ideal so sent her an email. I never heard back, discovering several weeks later that her email had gone down and she hadn’t been able to get it fixed. I then contacted my second choice, who told me that unfortunately they were full and not taking on any clients. So I looked further afield and found Sian, my now therapist. She was my third choice.
Sian turned out to be a Highly Sensitive Person and guessed I was also HSP. I’d never heard of the trait of high sensitivity but discovering I am, indeed, highly sensitive has changed my life. She is also deeply spiritual and I can talk to her about being an Empath, reading energy, soulmates and psychic phenomena and she doesn’t bat an eyelid. I feel seen and understood for the first time in my entire life – exactly what you need in a therapist.
As some of my followers know I have a genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and live with chronic pain. I find massage really helpful and had a lovely lady who came to my house once a month, but last year she gave up her massage business and I had to find someone else. I tried a couple of people I wasn’t happy with, then looked slightly further afield and found a place which had several massage therapists.
I saw one who did sports massage that looked ideal but she was booked up for months. So I went with my second choice, who was again booked up. My third choice had just one appointment left the following week so I took that. She turned out to be a Clairvoyant, a master Reiki healer, to have synaesthesia (as I also do and is quite rare) and is into all things spiritual. She told me I am not only an Empath but I am Clairsentient. I looked that up and it was light bulb central. I am now attending her Tuesday night spiritual class with a group of lovely women. As the icing on the cake she is an excellent massage therapist whose boss also has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, so she knew exactly what I needed in terms of treatment.
I used to belong to an online group for Highly Sensitive People and someone posted a link one day to an article. I read the article, which contained a link to another article. I read that article, which contained a link to another article written by someone called Kirsty. I decided to look her up. She turned out to live in the same county as me, run a research institute for psychic phenomena, have a PhD in parapsychology, be an international speaker on all things psychic and is also a Reiki master, a Highly Sensitive Person and a synaesthete. I now belong to her small international group which discusses energy, consciousness and all things PSi and have attended her interactive consciousness laboratory. Shortly after coming across Kirsty I felt forced to leave the HSP group – it had served its purpose and was no longer needed.
All of these examples could be mere coincidences, but they are too specific to be chance. Only 1.6% of the population have mirror-touch synaesthesia and I happen to come across two other synaesthetes despite living in a sparsely populated rural area. Cumbria is not exactly a hot bed for psychic and spiritual endeavours, yet I seem to have stumbled across others just like me without even consciously looking. It’s wild when you stop to think about it.
As the saying goes, “what’s for you won’t pass by you”. I believe we are here on earth for Soul growth and we are drawn to helpers to guide us. If a person or situation is crucial for this purpose they/it will absolutely find you. It’s part of your Soul Contract.
However, there are so many people who say they are “spiritual” and want to live a spiritual life but what they really want is someone to just affirm their already entrenched beliefs. They’re not open to growth. They can be directed to all the guidance in the world but won’t accept any change of direction, especially if it means disrupting their very comfortable life or making difficult decisions. We maintain free will, but we also then face the consequences of not honouring our Soul Contract and the growth we are here in this life to achieve.
We know when we’re on the right path because of the synchronicities, the ‘weird coincidences’. The events and people we don’t even go looking for yet who feel ‘right’ when we stumble across them. The people who light us up. Who make us feel energised and excited about life, though they may also make us question our direction. If you’re unhappy, or restless, or stressed, or exhausted, feel unseen, unheard, misunderstood, unfulfilled or maybe you just feel ‘off’ and you can’t put your finger on why, could it be that you’re not on the right path? Honour the signs – maybe this post is one.
