Note the title isn’t What Is Consciousness, because we all know what it means to be conscious. My question is Where Is Consciousness?
There are many scientists who think that our mind, our consciousness, resides solely in the brain. Every thought is a complex interplay of firing neurons with a purely physical basis. And while, obviously, we can to some extent see this physical basis for our thoughts because we can record brainwaves and neural activity using machinery, it doesn’t provide an explanation for so many things.
We’ve all heard of cases of out of body experiences, when someone’s brain has died yet their consciousness has apparently lived on and they’ve been able to see their physical body, and the scene around them, describing this in detail afterwards despite the fact that their brain should not have been capable of thought or memory.
When we sleep we are largely unconscious and yet we have incredibly vivid dreams and we’re not the only animals to do so. I mentioned in a previous post that an ex boyfriend and I both had a similar dream where we were at a house party and saw each other there. How do we explain this shared consciousness when we are effectively not conscious?
Have you ever been thinking about someone and out of the blue they’ve messaged or called you? It’s almost like because they are thinking of you that thought is able to be picked up by you. But how is that possible? The truth is, we don’t know.
Telepathy
Telepathy is the ability to communicate thoughts, emotions or images from one mind to another without physical interaction and includes what we call Intuition.
I talked in this post about visiting the Wyrd laboratory at Broughton Sanctuary recently where you can play interactively with expanding consciousness. One of the games is to pair up with another person and for your paired person to pick a card from a deck containing a colour, shape or symbol and you have to guess what is on the card. This week, the lab was visited via Zoom by Ryan Desbien from America. I’ve seen a few of Ryan’s video clips online and he has an amazing ability, so I was interested to see how he got on at the Lab.
He teamed up with Emma, the lady who had demonstrated spoon bending to us the previous week. He could not see the card Emma was holding up. Normally you’d face the card towards you, but as this was being recorded she faced the card to the camera instead. This was the resulting experiment and is reposted with kind permission of the participants:
I can’t even begin to know how Ryan was able to so correctly guess the cards, and apparently Emma before him had been almost as adept. My mind is officially blown, excuse the pun 😉
When I had a go at guessing the cards I did quite well with colours but was woefully inadequate with shapes and symbols. But I have had experiences of telepathy which I can’t explain, such as:
- willing someone to text me and within seconds receiving a message (I actually did this as an experiment without the knowledge of the other person and was successful on all 4 occasions)
- knowing when someone was obsessively thinking about me
- knowing I would see someone again, despite them telling me otherwise
- knowing when someone was experiencing strong emotions despite being hundreds of miles away
For me, this has only happened with my Twin Flame (I’m assuming due to our soul connection) but I am currently working on expanding it to other people I’m not soul connected to.
As humans we think our thoughts and emotions are private and only take place inside our own heads and bodies, but events like the one in the video above show this is absolutely not true. Our thoughts and emotions may be more like radio waves which can be tuned in to if we are aware of the frequency on which they’re being transmitted, even from the other side of the world. We may also be able to affect others with our thoughts and feelings without even being consciously aware of the fact, such as when I knew my Twin Flame had witnessed a car accident because of the strong emotions he felt which I picked up on, so imagine what would happen if we really tried.
Then, of course, there are those cases of near death experiences which demonstrate that consciousness appears to continue even after our physical body ceases to function. Combined with the fact that we are vibrating balls of energy and according to Newton’s law of physics energy cannot be destroyed, it merely changes form, it becomes clear that there is more, so much more, to our existence than we currently perceive.
