Energy

At a fundamental level everything in the Universe is in motion, even seemingly solid objects, and vibrating at different frequencies. We Humans are just like any other matter and are made of structures which never rest. Organs which are made of cells. Cells which contain organelles. Organelles which are composed of molecules and molecules which are made up of individual atoms. The space between molecules and atoms is not empty space but filled with potential energy and electromagnetic fields which attract or repulse. We are vibrating balls of invisible energy.

Have you ever met someone and instantly disliked them, before they’ve barely said hello? Or have you seen someone from across a crowded room and felt instantly drawn to them? You are picking up on their energy, even from a distance, in an unconscious and instinctive way.

Light & Dark Energy

It’s been known by humans since time began that some energies in the Universe are positive and some are negative (Good & Evil if you will). The night sky is made up of brilliant shining stars, radiating their energy outwards to light up the world, and it is also made up of destructive black holes sucking energy into their vortex. For me, people operate in a very similar way either radiating their energy outwards to benefit others or sucking in energy to the detriment of the people they encounter.

I attended a Spiritual workshop a few months ago, run by an Australian couple. I’d been really looking forward to it as the male course Tutor did past life regressions (a subject I’m interested in) but driving to the venue in the car I started to feel uneasy and I didn’t know why. When I arrived at the workshop and the Tutor introduced himself to me my entire body had a visceral reaction to him. I looked into his eyes and knew I was encountering a very dark energy. This was further confirmed when I observed the demeaning and controlling way he treated his partner and the potentially emotionally harmful way he treated one of the participants of the workshop. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Harnessing Energy

If we can tune in to other people’s energy without conscious thought, imagine what we could do if we really tried. I’m going to write some posts on my own experiences of this, but I’ll outline a quick example. At the weekend I went for brunch in a local cafe. A young couple came in with a dog and sat on the sofas opposite me. As regular readers of my blog will know I have a special affinity with animals and as is often the case the dog came straight over to me and I made a huge fuss of her. She then was instructed to come and lie down next to the couple’s table. But although she was lying on the floor I could see she was on high alert. Her head was up, at every sound her ears pricked and she was clearly not relaxed. So I closed my eyes, tuned in to her energy and sent calming vibes outwards to her. I told her in my mind that she was safe, there was no danger and that she could rest. Immediately she laid her head down and chilled right out (at least until food arrived 😄).

Do we all have the ability to sense and harness energy? I suspect we do, because we all know what it’s like to have a ‘gut feeling’ about a person or situation and I’m sure many of us have walked into a room and sensed a tense or exciting atmosphere, but relying on our intuition is dissuaded at a very early age.

The biggest barrier, for me personally, to not being able to sense and harness energy is having a closed heart. We all have invisible protective walls that we surround ourselves with, particularly when we are in public settings or with people we don’t know well. They are absolutely necessary, but there are times when it is safe for us to lower these walls and to be more open hearted. When I open myself up it almost feels like I enter another plane of consciousness. The best analogy I can give is when you’re daydreaming – you’re physically ‘there’ but your mind is ‘somewhere else’ in an alternate reality. The more my heart is open and I inhabit the vibrational plane rather than the merely physical the easier I find it to tune in to the energy around me.

I try to live in energy. I take note of how people, places and situations make me feel on a heart and soul level rather than ignoring my intuition and letting my logical mind take over. I don’t always manage it. Our brains are incredibly powerful and we’re very good at rationalising, but I can honestly say the few regrets I have in life are times when I’ve allowed my feelings to be over-ridden by my thoughts. Our brains are jam packed full of the detritus we encounter during our lifetime, whereas our souls are simply full of love.
