Ask for the signs

My planned visit to a friend this morning has had to be cancelled due to a major RTA on the A66 which has closed the road in both directions, so I have some time to write instead 😊. My last Soul & Spirit post was on Proof v Belief and yesterday I had an excellent example of this which I wanted to share.

I was at the Centre for Liminal Studies at Broughton Sanctuary for the day. We began with a guided meditation from Monroe Institute board member and outreach trainer Luigi Sciambarella (I’m going to do a post on Monroe at some stage so watch out for that). We were asked to set an intention for the meditation and mine was to receive a sign that meditation is an expanded state of consciousness during which we can obtain information. During my meditation, when I silently asked for a sign to prove the impressions I receive during meditation aren’t just my very vivid imagination I received a clear message to “look out for the purple stone”. I wrote this down after the meditation ended.

Afterwards we went across to the Wyrd Lab to play around with Psi. This included psychometry whereby we hold an object belonging to another person to see if we can obtain impressions from it. I asked the group if anyone had an object they wanted me to read and a new member, Mandy, said “yes!”and pulled out this from her bag. I think we can all agree it’s a pretty big purple stone!!!

Could this be a mere coincidence? Of course, though she was the only attendee there who had brought a stone with her and it was the only psychometry object which was purple. I could have had any one of the other group members offer me one of their items, but Mandy was the first to shout out.

Unfortunately, not all signs are this blatantly obvious. For example, I get songs out of the blue which become ear worms in my brain and I’ve come to recognise that these are telling me something. It’s usually energy that I’m picking up from another person, though most of the time I admit I can’t work out why I’m doing this or what, if anything, I’m supposed to do with it. So I just say “thank you” and if I need anything further or should be acting on the sign I trust that this information will be presented to me. Sometimes it’s just a heads up that I’m going to be hearing from the person whose energy I’m picking up.

I know so many people who ask God/the Universe/spirit guides etc for information or guidance then completely ignore the answer because they either didn’t like it or they still can’t believe or trust they’ve received an answer despite it staring them in the face. If you ask for a sign you have to then recognise when a sign is given, otherwise what’s the point? If you keep asking for information or guidance then totally ignore it when it’s received, or you receive the information or guidance but don’t act on it, eventually you’re going to stop receiving it.

Sometimes we ask for a sign or guidance and receive an answer we didn’t want. Maybe the answer we secretly want to receive isn’t the right course of action for us and we need to make what are perceived to be more difficult decisions.

Sometimes we ask for a sign or guidance and receive nothing. Maybe it’s not the right time to make changes. Maybe receiving the information or guidance we’re requesting would be detrimental to us or to someone else. Maybe we need to continue the status quo as we have further lessons to learn from our current situation. When this has happened to me I’ve simply had to let go of the request and trust that doing nothing at the current time, or accepting the guidance I received wasn’t that which I was secretly hoping for, is what’s in my best interests.

Maybe we do receive the answer or guidance but ignore it, or we ask for a sign then aren’t open to seeing one.

Living in energy requires opening our hearts and learning to live in vulnerability which can be daunting and scary and is often really difficult to do. But that is an important post for another day.
