Occasionally I work on a creative image, it all comes together seamlessly and I’m really happy with the end result. However, that scenario is more rare than I like to admit and much more often making creative pictures is fairly tortuous.

I’ve had the picture below on my laptop for over 5 years. I’ve stuck it into Photoshop now and again and had a play around with it, then have decided it doesn’t work and I’ve abandoned it for a year before deciding to have another go. I know it has merit, but I seem incapable of making it work.

I am desperately short of new competition images for the start of the new Camera Club season next month, however, so today I yet again brought this composite out of mothballs and had another bash at it. I’m still not happy with the end result but I can’t for the life of me work out how to make it better.

These are the images I started with (minus the texture image as I can’t remember which one I used – I try different ones and see how they look!). There was then a stupid amount of fiddling, particularly with temperature and light, to try and make it harmonise. I have still failed miserably to make it look realistic and it is still meh.

However, it’s going to have to do for at least one of my entries – I await the slaughtering from the Judge with baited breath 😉
